Best known for her role as Susie Greene on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Susie Essman is a stand-up comedian, actress, writer and producer from New York City who often uses her Jewish heritage as a theme in her brand of humor. After paying her dues as a stand-up comedian and making the round on the comedy club circuit, she received her first special on Comedy Central in 1992. Essman spent the remainder of the 1990s perfecting her stand-up routines and appearing in small roles in films before landing her role on Curb Your Enthusiasm. The series debuted in 2000 to widespread critical acclaim, earning a several industry nominations and awards including the Golden Glob for Best Television Series (Musical of Comedy) in 2002. As a main character on a show that has been running for over a decade, Essman saw a significant rise in fame and recognition and began appearing at comedy festivals and events such as the celebrity roast of Donald Trump and Jerry Stiller as well as the Newbury Comedy Festival in 2007. She has also lent her voice to to Comedy Central's Crank Yankers and occasionally appears on The Daily Show as a correspondent.
