Sultans of String is an instrumental ensemble that weaves flamenco, gypsy jazz, Latin rhythms and Arabic folk into one sonic fabric. The five-piece band is led by Canadian violinist Chris Mckhool. Sultans of String released its debut album Luna, in 2007, exposing its brand of world music for the firs time. Driven by Mckhool's six-string violin and guitarist Kevin Laliberte's flamenco stylings, the band captured a crossover following that has grown with each album, from 2011's MOVE to 2015's Subcontinental Drift.
