Ian Hunter is an English singer/songwriter that has been producing and performing rock music since 1958. He rose to fame as the lead singer of band Mott the Hoople, which e fronted for the duration of its existence from 1969 to 1974 when the band dissolved and he once again resumed a solo career. He carried the loyal fan base he earned during his years with Mott the Hoople into his own endeavors, ensuring that his eponymous debut solo album earned widespread acclaim when it was released in 1975. He has since penned several songs that would go on to become smash hits, including Barry Manilow's version of "Ships," and the Presidents of the United States of America's rendition of "Cleveland Rocks." As Hunter transitioned into the 2000s, his commercial appeal slowly declined but his true to form rock sound never faltered.
