Irish dramatist John Millington Synge's The Playboy of the Western World debuted at Dublin's Abbey Theatre in 1907. The three-act slapstick comedy is set in the early 1900s in Count Mayo and follows a young man named Christy Mahon. A much-loved comedy, it has been adapted numerous times for different mediums including television and film.
