San Diego Opera has quite an eventful history. It was originally formed in 1950, but only to present the San Francisco Opera's traveling productions, but this changed in 1965 when the opera started to produce and stage its own performances. This ever-flourishing legacy started with La Bohème. Very soon, the schedule of this opera began filling up with marvelous productions like Faust, Madama Butterfly, Lohengrin and many more. Notable artists from around the globe have performed alongside San Diego Opera and it has performed on the premieres shows of many established productions. Throughout its multi-decade spanning career, it has established itself as one of the most respected opera of the country.
