One of the pioneering bands of the grunge movement to emerge out of Seattle during the early 1990s, Alice in Chains solidified its reputation during its formative years with innovative guitar playing and harrowing vocals--courtesy of lead singer Lane Stanley. Though Staley died of a drug overdose in 2002, the group still soldiers on with a new vocalist who has managed to bring a fresh vibe and astute sound to the band.
