About
Ricky Skaggs started playing mandolin at the age of five. By the age of six, he was playing with Bill Monroe, the inventor of bluegrass; by age seven, he was playing with famed talents Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Going on to have a full career in the bluegrass genre, Skaggs would also go on to collaborate with musicians like Jack White, Phish and Bruce Hornsby, adding to his cross-over appeal. Managing to steadily release albums of interesting bluegrass and assorted cross-over material along the years, Skaggs is also a frequent tourer, which has helped build the Kentucky-born musician a reputation as one of the best and hardest working mandolin players in America.
