Oakland-based R&B trio the Pointer Sisters is one of the 1970s and 80s most revered descendants of 1950s and 60s Motown. Combining classic soul and R&B with emerging pop, country and rock styles, the group has maintained a long career by staying relevant with pop music's changing tides. The sisters are the recipients of three Grammy Awards and numerous nominations, most of them for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The sisters continue to tour through out the country, playing favorites to adoring, decades-long fans.
