Pierre Richard is a French actor, comedian, director and singer/songwriter who is renowned for his various comedic film roles, particularly throughout the 1980s, when he formed a lucrative partnership with writer Francis Verber and fellow iconic funny man Gérard Depardieu. Together they would define an era of French comedy with three of Richard's most recognizable films: La Chèvre, Les Compères and Les Fugitifs. Considered one of France's greatest comedians, he also found time to release a comedy pop album, Madame Sardine, in 1983, and to channel his talent behind the camera, directing films such as 1997's Droit dans le mur.
