The Skatalites is a pioneering ska band from Jamaica that built a solid reputation for itself after forming in 1963. The group released its debut album, Ska Authentic, in 1964 and the LP helped establish The Skatalities as one of the more inventive reggae minded acts of its generation. Though the group was forced to disband in 1965, it returned in 1983 and has since managed to maintain a respectably busy touring and recording schedule.
