Pete Levin's musical journey spans decades and genres, rooted in a diverse range of instruments and experiences. Originating from Brookline, Massachusetts, Levin's early venture into music began with the French horn before he delved into formal studies at Boston University and Juilliard School in New York City. It was during his time in the army in the late 1960s that Levin's encounter with the Hammond organ sparked a transformative shift in his musical trajectory. His association with the Gil Evans Orchestra and subsequent collaboration with Jimmy Giuffre solidified his position as a versatile keyboardist, seamlessly integrating synthesizer sounds into compositions. Across his illustrious career, Levin's instrumental prowess extends to piano, clavinet, and Moog synthesizer, showcased in his dynamic discography as a bandleader.
