The Oregon Symphony, based in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall is an American, Grammy award-winning orchestra and is known to be one of the oldest orchestras in the Western United States. Founded in 1896, it was initially known as the Portland Symphony Society. Various skilled conductors like Werner Janssen, James Sample and Carlos Chávez have been a part of the orchestra. The orchestra has been associated with the Delos label and has been recording music with them since 1987. Works like Music for a Time of War, Haydn Symphonies and Aspects of America have been recorded and released over the course of years and have garnered a tremendous response from classical music enthusiasts.
