About
Elvis Schoenberg's Orchestre Surreal, founded in 1997 in Los Angeles by composer Ross Wright under the persona of "Elvis Schoenberg," blends the namesake influences of Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg and American icon Elvis Presley. The group embraces an avant-garde mission, aiming to explore uncharted musical territories. Their innovative approach garnered recognition, including Best Rock Opera Of The Year, Best Orchestral Arranger, and Outstanding Performance Award by the Los Angeles Music Awards in 2003 and 2004. Known for their unconventional performances, they've staged three fully realized musicals, such as "Dismembering the Classics," which creatively intertwined Shakespearean works with classic rock tunes, and "Symphony Of the Absurd," a unique production that graced the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre for one memorable night. Additionally, the ensemble has brought their eclectic sounds to unexpected venues, including the Pasadena Doo-Dah Parade, showcasing their whimsical spirit and artistic versatility.
