About

Once in a Lifetime is a satirical comedy for stage written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, and is the first of eight collaborative plays they wrote together during the 1930s. The play satirically studies the effect "talking pictures" had on the entertainment industry as it transitioned from a New York-based vaudeville paradigm to the one being created by the film industry in Hollywood. Since premiering in 1930, Once in a Lifetime has generally been considered to be a masterful satire for stage that continues to entertain and educate theater-goers on the film medium and the stupidity that is often behind Hollywood's most critically and commercially successful films.
