Oleanna

Oleanna is a play by David Mamet. Involving just two characters, it shows the struggle for power between a university professor and one of his female students. The professor's chances of being granted tenure are wrecked when his she accuses him of sexual exploitation. The play debuted in 1992 in Cambridge, MA. It was the first production of the Back Bay Theater Company. It starred William H. Macy and Rebecca Pidgeon as the protagonists. Oleanna premiered in London at the Royal Court Theater in 1993, under the direction of Harold Pinter. David Suchet and Lia Williams essayed the lead roles. The play has been adapted into a feature film starring William H. Macy and Debra Eisenstadt. The play was revived in 2004 at the Garrick Theater in London.
