About
The Okanagan Symphony is regional orchestra of Okanagan Valley and the third largest professional Symphony Orchestra in the Canadian province of British Columbia. With three performance halls in the valley, specifically in Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton, Music Director/Conductor Rosemary Thomson brings inspiring symphonic music to the community. The symphony has been dedicated to entertainment and education since 1960, hosting several concert series to benefit the community such as the Minds and Music series, an informational show about the past and present of music. In 2010, after the successful addition of vocalists to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and the world premiere of Imant Raminsh's Quaternity concerts, the Okanagan Symphony held auditions for singers to perform with the orchestra in future concerts, adding the personable vocal element to the symphony's full sound.
