Canadian singer/songwriter Leslie Feist (better known as just Feist) is hard not to like. After being a part of the alternative rock band Broken Social Scene, Feist struck out on her own with an enduring voice and downtempo folksy style instrumental accompaniments. After listening to her music, one gets the impression that Feist is a woman who has fallen in love several times only to find herself a short time later down the road with a broken heart. She released her debut LP, Monarch, in 1999 and since then she has managed to release consecutive albums that have gone on to receive praise by several prominent music publications.
