Matogrosso & Mathias, a Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 1966, originally consisted of João Batista Bernardo, known as Matogrosso, and Anísio Roberto de Carvalho, known as Mathias. Over time, Isaac Júnior replaced Anísio as Mathias, and currently, Rafael Belchior, Anísio's godson, has taken Isaac's place. Renowned as "the most romantic duo in Brazil," they played a pivotal role in popularizing sertanejo music, paving the way for many successful artists in the genre today. With hits like "Pele de Maçã," "Tentei te Esquecer," and "24 Horas de Amor," they earned their first gold record in 1976. Matogrosso & Mathias have released 17 albums under the Continental label, leaving an enduring mark on Brazilian music history.
