Demonstrating an endearing dedicating to the art of classical music making, Mark Russell Smith is a conductor and music director from Phoenix who is known to offer the timeless pieces of Mozart, Brahms and Beethoven from a fresh perspective. Named the Music Director of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra in Davenport, Iowa he has served as creative leader of several different institutions, such as the Richmond Symphony Orchestra for a decade from 1999 to 2009 as well as the music program at the University of Minnesota where he served as Artistic Director of Orchestral Studies. In addition to his commitment to preserving classical music, Smith has an ear for contemporary symphonic music and was appointed Director of New Music Projects of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota. His work as a guest conductor has earned him an international reputation of excellence.
