Manitoba Moose

One of the seven original expansion teams to join the AHL when the former IHL folded in 2001, the Manitoba Moose have a long history in Canadian minor league hockey. When the Winnepeg Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996, the Manitoba Moose fulfilled hockey passion in town with both the IHL and AHL. In 2011, the Moose moved to Newfoundland and played as the St. John's IceCaps for four years until returning to Winnepeg in 2015. Over the years, the club has not had much success in the minor leagues, however the Moose reached the Calder Cup final in 2008-09 and lost to the Hershey Bears, 2-4.
