Shortly after starting high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mac Miller decided to pursue a career in hip-hop. This meant not playing any competitive sports or over indulging in excessive partying. Instead, he would spend the majority of his time refining his song craft and his skills as a musician and rapper. This period that Miller spent fostering his talent paid off when he turned 18 and was signed by Rostrum Records, a hip-hop label best known for discovering Wiz Khalifa. With a unique vocal style and an innate way with words, Miller released a few singles in 2010 and a proper full length album in 2011, which was lauded by some connoisseurs of the East Coast rap scene as one of the best hip-hop albums of the year. Sadly, Mac Miller passed away in 2018 at the age of 26.
