India Arie is an R&B artist and producer from Denver, Colorado who rose to recognition for her soulful vocals after the release of her 2001 debut album, Acoustic Soul. Despite a lack of air play on mainstream pop and rap stations, the record garnered widespread critical acclaim and attention for subsequent records. Arie earned her first Grammy Award in 2003 for her song "Little Things," before going on to collaborate with a diverse string of artists including the legendary Stevie Wonder, blues man Keb Mo and the Turkish pop star Sezen Aksu.
