Spandau Ballet is a British band that was formed in the late 1970s in Islington, London. Although the band was not politically active and was involved in the New Romantic movement at the time, it participated in the project "Red Wedge," initiated by Paul Weller in order to turn youth onto politics. The band's first single and album were highly successful, but it split up in the late 1980s. In 2009, Spandau Ballet announced its comeback after a twenty year hiatus, and the jazzy, funk synthpop sound still rings.
