Soulfly is an American metal band that Max Cavalera, former Sepultura frontman, formed in 1997. Its sound manages to cohesively blend nu metal with elements of thrash metal to create a unique and unmistakable sonic amalgam. In 1998, Soulfly released its first self-titled album. Band member turnover for Soulfly is quite high, resulting in the group's instrumental viability being in a state of constant flux.
