Heathen is a heavy metal band that emerged out of San Francisco in 1984. Formed by guitarist Lee Altus and drummer Carl Sacco, the band released its debut album, Breaking the Silence, in 1987, combining the brutality of thrash metal with the instrumental adeptness of speed metal. After another LP and a decade-long hiatus that began in 1991, Heathen reunited in 2001 and proceeded with an international touring schedule as it continued to record new material, including its 2010 record, The Evolution of Chaos.
