Sing Street is about a teen who, like many, forms a band in the hopes of impressing a girl. Conor Lawlor is having a rough time at home as well as at school. Having to deal with a drunk father, his parents’ failing marriage, a bully and an authoritarian principal is getting to Conor’s state of mind. With the support of an elder brother and the backing of a few friends, Conor sets out to make his pretend band a reality. The musical follows Conor and his entourage as they eventually figure out their paths. Adapted from John Carney’s 2016 film the screenplay for the stage production was written by Edna Walsh.
