Founded in 1937, Bluefield Blue Jays was one of the top teams in the Appalachian League. This former Minor League Baseball, Advanced Rookie affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays was one of the most successful teams in the league with 14 League titles and 12 Division titles to its name. Although the team represented the twin cities of Bluefield, West Virginia, and Bluefield, Virginia, it played its home games at Bowen Field at Peters Park.
