Grand Rapids Griffins

This team was a member of the defunct International Hockey League when it was established in 1996 and played under the same name. When the IHL folded in 2001 after 56 years, the Griffins joined the AHL and have one Calder Cup title. In 2013, the club beat the Syracuse  in six games 4-2. The squad is also an AHL affiliate to the Detroit Red Wings and the Griffins play in the Van Andel Arena which holds approximately 10,800 hockey spectators.
