Girl in a Coma is a rock-centric band from San Antonio, Texas that was named after the iconic song "Girlfriend in a Coma" by The Smiths. Comprised of Mexican-American sisters and their longtime friend, Girl in a Coma was signed by female rocker Joan Jett to her imprint Blackheart Records in 2006. The group's sound straddles a diverse swath of genres including mellow folk and rambunctious punk, and this ability to change up its sound has caught the attention of bands like The Pogues and Social Distortion, both of which have asked Girl in a Coma to open up for them on tour.
