Despite labeling itself as a disco band, Escort makes music that sounds and feels relevant to the 2010s. The contemporary disco act was founded in Brooklyn by Dan Balis and Eugene Cho, who started the music project as a house duo and wanted to make new music with the same spirit as the old songs they were sampling. The duo released its first 12-inch titled Starlight in 2006, and Excorts has since expanded into a 17-piece live band whose members, including strings master Caleb Burhans of Aracade Fire, come from a series of other music projects. With three power-house female vocalists, the super-group released its self-titled debut album in 2011.
