Eduardo Marturet

Eduardo Marturet is a Venezuelan conductor and composer who has risen to prominence as the musical director of The Miami Symphony Orchestra. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Marturet studied in Cambridge, England and became enamored with the European classical music tradition. After receiving degrees in piano, percussion, conducting and composition, Marturet returned to Venezuela in 1979 and became an associate conductor at the Orquesta Filarmónica de Caracas. Having since distinguished himself as one of the world's more respected composers, Marturet maintains an active career on three continents--heading the Miami Symphony Orchestra, shaping much of the classical music world in his native Venezuela as well as frequently appearing as a guest conductor in Europe.
