Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra is the regional orchestra from Duluth, Minnesota that was founded in 1932. The Orchestra's original performances were located in the Duluth Armory before 1966 when it moved to the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center Auditorium, which seats 2,200 people and is located on the waterfront near the historic Aerial Lift Bridge. The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra plays both classic and contemporary symphonic music with the aim to move and engage people of all ages. Music director Markand Thakar, conductor of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and the Princiap conductor of the Duluth Festival Opera, has been conducting the orchestra since 2001. He has earned a reputation for raising artistic standards with his innovative and thematic programming. In order to stimulate community engagement, the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra performs the Young People's Concert for musical education, offers backstage dress rehearsal passes, plays private parties with its Music To You programs and offers its venue for school orchestra performances.
