Doc Severinsen is an American jazz and pop trumpet player best known for acting as the leader of the orchestra for the Johnny Carson era of The Tonight Show. He established himself as a musician in the 1950s and 1960s, performing his variations on jazz standards in clubs throughout the United States. His pop knowledge and leanings have led him to lead a number of pops orchestras in his time after The Tonight Show in areas around both Wisconsin and Minnesota.
