Raydar Ellis is a versatile and accomplished musician who has made a significant impact in various facets of the music industry. As a producer, DJ, and co-founder of Revive Music Group, he has carved out a prominent position in the diverse musical landscape. While being an integral part of the NYC jazz community as a sideman, Ellis has skillfully incorporated turntables, samplers, and technology alongside traditional instruments, challenging and expanding the boundaries of live performances. His contributions to the Revive Big Band have showcased the possibilities and credibility of hip hop elements in jazz, leading to performances at esteemed venues like The Kennedy Center, The Apollo, and The MoMA. Beyond his musical pursuits, Ellis is also a dedicated educator, serving as an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music and teaching classes centered around hip hop, including songwriting, beat making, and his innovative J Dilla Ensemble. He has been recognized as a guest lecturer at The Grammy Museum, MIT, and The New School, as well as being invited to write an essay on production for Harvard's Hip Hop Archives series.
