Deekline, also known as The Bass Queen, is a British producer and DJ known for his work in breakbeat, breakstep, drum and bass, and garage music. He is credited as the innovator of breakstep, a bass-heavy, breakbeat-infused 2-step style of music. Deekline gained recognition with his hit single "I Don't Smoke" in 1999, which reached No. 11 on the UK charts and popularized the breakstep sound. He is the owner of Rat Records, which has released music from various artists including DJ Fresh, Jack Beats, Stanton Warriors, and more. Deekline has collaborated with notable British producers such as Ed Solo and Wizard. He has achieved international success with remixes and collaborations, including "The Mexican" with Tim Healey and "Shake the Pressure" with Splack Pack. In 2009, he founded the label Jungle Cakes with Ed Solo, which has become one of the best-selling jungle labels. Deekline's influential contributions have shaped the underground electronic music scene in London, paving the way for genres like grime and dubstep.
