Digawolf is a Canadian alternative music group hailing from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. They are known for recording and performing in both English and Tłı̨chǫ Yatıì, showcasing their cultural diversity. Led by singer and songwriter Diga, a musician from Behchokǫ̀, the band has gained recognition and critical acclaim over the years. They have been nominated twice for the Juno Award for Indigenous Music Album of the Year, first in 2010 for their album Distant Morning Star, and again in 2020 for Yellowstone. The band's name, Digawolf, is a combination of "Diga," the Tłı̨chǫ Yatıì word for wolf, and its English translation. With a lineup that has included talented musicians such as bassist TJ Buggins, drummer David Dowe, bassist Nik Heyman, and drummer Peter Dombernowsky, Digawolf has released several albums that showcase their unique blend of music and cultural influences. Their discography includes notable works like The Earth Is Crying (2005), Distant Morning Star (2009), Nake De (2012), Great Northern Man (2015), Yellowstone (2019), and High Arctic (2020). The band has appeared on various platforms, including CBC Radio's program Q, where they performed captivating songs like "Elexe Together" and "Northern Love Affair" to promote their album Yellowstone. Digawolf continues to captivate audiences with their rich musicality and cross-cultural expression.
