Die Krupps is an industrial metal band that emerged out of Dusseldorf, Germany in 1980. The group released its debut album, Stahlwerksymphonie, in 1981, with a sound that combined synthesizers with metal percussion. As Die Krupps transitioned into the 1990s, it began to incorporate more guitar-centric sound, landing on its signature electro-infused industrial metal style that was first captured on its 1992 album, I. Though the band broke up in 1997, it reunited for a handful of stints in the 2000s, before embarking on a European tour in 2011 and released its first album in 16 years, The Machinists of Joy, in 2013.
