Simply put, the Chicago-based band Earth, Wind & Fire is one of the most successful and critically revered bands ever. Since forming in 1969, the group has created music that has spanned the genre gamut--including R&B, soul, funk, disco, jazz and rock--helping the band grow into one of best selling acts of all time--having sold more than 90 million albums worldwide. Known for its powerfully dynamic sound that's bolstered by a robust horn section as well as the contrasting vocal interplay between lead singers Philip Bailey's falsetto and Maurice White's tenor, Earth, Wind & Fire has acted as one of the most important bands of the 20th century.
