The Columbus Clippers is a minor league baseball club that was founded in 1977, originally as a Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Having changed its MLB team affiliations several times over its decades-long career (including partnerships with the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals), the Clippers are currently involved with the Cleveland Indians. Having won the Governors Cup several times over its decades-long career, its first being in 1979, the franchise has built a reputation as one of the more talented and prodigious teams in the league.
