Patrick Marber's second original play, Closer follows the lives of Dan, Alice, Larry and Anna as they navigate relationships fraught with infidelity and betrayal. The play challenges popular notions of love and romance while centering on the characters' troubled relationship with the truth. Closer premiered at the Royal National Theatre's Cottesloe Theatre in 1997 before moving to the West End the following year. Its Broadway premier took place in 1999 at New York's Music Box Theatre. It has since been produced in a variety of different languages and performed at theaters across the world.
