Since Nancy Laurie founded Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet in 2003, the New York City-based company has distinguished itself with its select collection of dancers and dedication to performing the new work of prolific choreographers. Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet has an impressive repertoire including works by Alexander Ekman, Hofesh Shechter, Jacopo Godani and Crystal Pite, as well as dance installations by Artistic Director Benoit-Swan Pouffer. Led by Pouffer, the 16-piece dance ensemble integrates athletic movement into contemporary and classical forms of ballet, redefining the possibilities of movements. Dedar Lake Contemporary Ballet feeds the development of dance by allowing choreographers to work with artistic freedom and breaking the barrier between audience and dancers with its curated work.
