Cassandra Wilson is a jazz vocalist and musician from Jackson, MS who has built a reputation with her distinctive timbre and seamless fusion of country, folk and blues music into her own brand of modern jazz. She released her debut album, Point of View, in 1986, and has since built am impressive discography of original compositions as well as collaborations with artists such as The Roots and Steve Coleman.
