The California Philharmonic was founded in the late 1990s by music director and conductor Victor Vener and a group of Pasadena, California-based music enthusiasts. Funded by a nonprofit called The Foundation, the organization is fueled by the mission to spread awareness of symphonic music with both classic pieces and contemporary works. When not on tour, the California Philharmonic performs at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and hosts several concerts and festivals around the Southern California area, such at the Festival on the Green summer series held at the Santa Anita Race Track.
