Brighton Beach Memoirs is an autobiographical play written by famed American playwright Neil Simon, it is also the first part of a trilogy of plays by Simon known as the Eugene Trilogy. The play is about a character by the name of Eugene Morris Jerome, and takes place in the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn during the late 1930s. Revived on Broadway in 2009, Brighton Beach Memoirs was shown to a new generation of audiences over two decades after its original premier in 1983, taking home several Tony Awards in the process.
