Bob Perlow

Bob Perlow is an American stand-up comedian and improv artist. A native of Pawtucket, RI, he worked as a ballroom dance instructor, taught retailing and marketing, and was even a professor at Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston. As someone with modest ambition, he never imagined finding himself in showbiz someday. His journey down that road began with answering an ad. At the shoot, he met Jay Leno, with whom he joined the improvisational troupe Fresh Fruit Cocktail. They performed at a myriad of venues like bars, colleges and even the Playboy Club. In need of a change, Perlow moved to California to work as a bus tour guide and began taking an improv comedy class, where he met Robin Williams and Paul Reubens. Another classmate of his - Marc Sotkin - secured for him a spot on the writing team of the immensely popular show Laverne & Shirley. It was here that he took to warming up audiences in between takes, eventually earning the nickname "The Warmup Guy." He has since made a career out of it, having worked for over 100 shows in his career. He also worked on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as a comedian for over 15 years.
