About
Ballet Folklorico De Mexico is a dance company based in Mexico City that specializes in folkoric ballet. Since it was founded in 1952 by dancer, teacher and choreographer Amalia Hernández, Ballet Folklorico De Mexico has performed in extravagant costumes that reflect different regions of Mexico and traditional Mexican culture. Within ten years, the company grew from an eight-piece group into a fifty-piece ensemble and served as a pioneer for Baile Folkorico, a style of dance that emphasizes local folk culture through ballet. Ballet Folklorico De Mexico has visited over 80 countries and performs three times a week at the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City.
