Angela Gheorghiu is a Romanian soprano who made her professional opera debut in 1990 as Mimi in La bohème. The role earned her critical acclaim throughout Europe, leading to her international debut at London's Royal Opera House as Zerlina in Don Giovanni. Armed with dark, wide-ranging vocals, Gheorghiu went on to perform iconic roles, such as Adina, Carmen and Juliette, and debut various characters including Nedda in Pagliacci and Marguerite in Faust. She continues to be a sought-after leading lady and one of the most recognizable voices in opera.
