Pearl Cleage draws inspiration from the people who thronged the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta to pay homage to Coretta Scott King, civil rights activist and spouse of Martin Luther King Jr., within days of her passing away. The story focuses on five women and how Mrs. King affected each one of their lives. The play has been lauded by critics and normal audiences alike for its ingenuity and excellent writing.
