When Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Duckel formed Air in 1995, electronic music was in the process of being reinvented. Though hard-hitting house music was the norm, as well as the popular big beat genre, the French duo decided to forge their own path and create (or invent) a rhythmically refined style of melodic music that has manged to find a large international fan base.
