The Verve is an alternative rock band from England that is probably best known for its 1997 commercially successful single "Bitter Sweet Symphony." Formed in 1989, the group has gone through a number of career arcs--breaking up, getting back together, losing members, breaking up again and getting back together again--before it has found itself where it currently is. Though the band has become a household name in the UK, it has never been regarded as little more than a one hit wonder by US audiences.
